Rarely has an opening concert deserved its name so much! To launch the 2021 edition of VIBRE! String Quartet Festival, the Modigliani Quartet proposes a unique dialogue between different artistic forms (classical music, dance and electronic music) in a contemporary and pioneering venue. To allow this double classical and electronic vibration, the organisers are offering a single ticket for the show at an accessible rate, allowing you to attend both proposals for this grand opening evening.

Classic Vibration :

Quatuor Modigliani, Tamara Fernando, Matthew Totaro, Francesco Tristano (piano)

For the first vibration of the festival, the Modigliani Quartet is surrounded by an unclassifiable pianist and two dancers. Tamara Fernando and Matthew Totaro Maurice Ravel’s Quartet over the waltz of the bows. With its rhythmic mechanics and original harmonic colours, the work lends itself particularly well to dance, heralding the composer’s great symphonic ballets (Daphnis and Chloé, La Valse, etc.). Francesco Tristano will then accompany the Modiglianis in the bewitching loops of Philip Glass’ Quintet. The eclectic pianist, who is as keen on early music as he is on electro, will conclude the concert with one of his original solos, ranging from Jean-Sebastien Bach to Carl Craig.

Electronic Vibration :

Chloé et Vassilena Serafimova – Sequenza live

© Sourdoreille Production

Chloé, producer and DJ, queen of electro made in France for 20 years, meets Vassilena Serafimova, a virtuoso classical percussionist from Bulgaria. Their worlds collide when, in 2017, they reinterpret Steve Reich’s Music for 18 musicians. Since then, inspired by the master of minimalism, the machines of one loop, sample and phase-shift the woody sounds of the marimba of the other. Their original compositions are the fusion point of electronic pulsations and acoustic rhythms. An experimentation that gives rise to the Sequenza project, live and in the studio for an unprecedented face-to-face encounter.
