For this final concert of the festival outside the city of Bordeaux, the Métamorphoses Quartet pays tribute to the French string quartet heritage with works by Claude Debussy and Germaine Tailleferre composed at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This promising quartet will then be joined by cellist Alexis Descharmes for one of the most monumental works of romantic chamber music: Franz Schubert’s Quintet D. 956. The beauty of its stretched melodies, the darkness of its storms, the epic power of its collective outbursts make this score a work of which it is impossible to tire.
